Bite by Bite: Make Climate-Smart Eating the Norm

People are open to climate-smart food. What's often missing are the tools, resources, and training chefs and food operators need to make it the easy, delicious, obvious pick.

That's where BITE: Building Impact Through Eaters comes in.

We work directly with foodservice companies, chefs, and dining teams to test and scale practical strategies that make climate-smart food more appealing and easier to choose. That can look like chef trainings and workshops, menu and messaging strategies, behavior-change campaigns in dining halls, research with eaters and operators, and tools that help teams put what works into practice.

Using behavioral science, BITE equips the people who feed millions with the practical tools to make climate-smart dishes the easy, enticing, and obvious go-to.

And it works. The three largest foodservice companies in the world are BITE partners. In 2025, we ran programs at 42 dining sites, reached more than 95,000 eaters, and cut food-related emissions 10% across participating university and corporate dining halls, all without asking eaters to give anything up. At one partner site, a single BITE campaign inspired eight new bean dishes that are now feeding 3,000 students.

By 2030, we aim to reach 100 million eaters by working through the foodservice operators who shape what people eat every day.
