History:

In December of 2021, a tragic fire that took the lives of two-year old Liam and three-year old Tiffan who were left alone in their little hut while their mother left for work late in the night. After learning of this tragedy, the Compassionate Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, despite limited resources and no planned budget, responded with a plan to do even more for the poorest mothers and children there. The sisters rented 5 rooms adjacent to their home and bravely started the first phase of Queen of Hope Day-Care, Child-Development Centre and Feeding Program at Chokaa in Nairobi, Kenya. This program accommodates more than 50 children, poor mothers and destitute elderly women everyday.

I have personally met some of the sisters and volunteers who have worked at and/or visited this site (and several other projects that the sisters run in the Philippines and Jamaica). The Compassionate Franciscan Sisters of the Poor are greatly in need of securing funds to continue caring and providing for the these children, mothers, and vulnerable elderly.

Through your support of this campaign, you will enable the continued operation, outreach and mobilizing care of works of mercy for the poorest children and families within their reach. This fund aims to cover the expenses of operation for one calendar year.
