Hello HTM listeners!

On the show, we’re always talking about stretching every dollar, and that applies to generosity, too. Last time we raised money for charity, we went head-to-head in a friendly competition, with Matt coming out on top. This year, instead of competing, we’re teaming up. By joining forces, choosing high-impact charities, and adding matching donations, we want to make your giving go even further this holiday season.

For me, Matt, I’m excited to highlight some of the most cost-effective charities on the planet. GiveWell’s research shows that simple solutions like malaria nets, vitamin A supplements, and cash incentives for childhood vaccines can save lives for just a few bucks. That’s incredible bang for your buck, and it’s why I’m supporting them.

And for me, Joel, I want to shine a light on nonprofits tackling huge challenges here at home. FIRE is protecting free speech rights, Undue Medical Debt is wiping away crushing bills, and The Hope Effect is transforming the way the world cares for orphans.
