At the Health Justice Initiative (HJI), we believe that no one should be denied healthcare because of their zip code, insurance status, or income. We started HJI to bridge the gap between medicine and justice — to fight back against the structural barriers that prevent people from accessing the care they deserve.

This campaign was born out of lived experience and deep community engagement. We’ve seen firsthand how health inequities — from delayed diagnoses to insurance denials — disproportionately affect Black, brown, low-income, and immigrant communities. We are lawyers, public health professionals, organizers, and advocates working side by side to ensure health equity is not just an ideal, but a reality.

With your support, we can provide free legal services for health-related issues, hold community workshops, support public health research, and be present at clinics, wellness events, and neighborhood centers across New York City — especially in historically disinvested areas like Brownsville and East New York.
