    People often bring me stuff on my birthday, and let’s be honest, I don’t need more stuff. (Unless it is good booze.)

    So this year instead of gifts, I’m asking folks to give to four charities near and dear to me: Creative Commons (fighting for human creativity after AI); California Housing Defense (fighting to build more housing); Mission Local (the best newspaper in the city); and Well Done (capping old wells to help stop methane leaks).
