Description
Many treatments reduce inflammation by broadly suppressing the immune system, which can create additional risks for vulnerable patients. Serpin Pharma is developing SP16, a synthetic peptide designed to stop damaging inflammation while preserving the body’s ability to fight infection and repair tissue.
SP16 has completed Phase 1 testing and produced encouraging results in a Phase 2 study involving patients with acute myocardial infarction. Serpin is also developing the treatment for acute kidney injury, severe skin disease, cancer-treatment-related nerve pain, and other inflammatory conditions.
Support would directly help advance clinical studies, patient testing, and the evidence required to determine which additional conditions could benefit most from SP16.
