Lately, it’s felt like our world is fraying at the seams. Families are being torn apart—not at some distant border, but right in our neighborhoods. Climate disasters are wiping out livelihoods from coast to coast. And too many people—maybe even people you know—are working full-time and still living paycheck to paycheck.

It’s enough to make you feel helpless.

But I’ve seen a different story unfold—one of hope, dignity, and deep-rooted solutions.

As a board member of Natün Guatemala, I’ve listened closely to the stories from our team and community leaders who live this work every day. I’ve seen the photos, read the updates, and felt the conviction in every conversation. I know that mothers are turning traditional weaving into a steady income. That students are learning to read in their native Kaqchikel for a better future. Indigenous farmers are adapting to climate change with ancestral knowledge and local innovation.

This is what sustainable, locally led change looks like.
