VizMark Medical - Help Women With A Breast Biopsy

When a woman undergoes a breast biopsy, physicians commonly leave a tiny marker behind so the exact location can be found again during future imaging, surgery, or treatment. Most traditional markers contain metal, which can create an MRI artifact much larger than the marker itself and interfere with visualization of the surrounding tissue. VizMark Medical developed VM-1, a permanent non-metal breast biopsy marker designed to remain identifiable without producing the same metal-related MRI artifact. VM-1 has already received FDA clearance.

VizMark is scaling manufacturing, expanding adoption across breast-imaging centers, and developing additional marker configurations. The clinical problem is deceptively simple: a marker placed to help physicians find an area of concern should not make that area harder to see later.
