To preserve and enhance the quality of student education at the Orono public schools.

About

K-5 literacy grant: Financial gifts are designated specifically to further boost Orono's excellence in K-5 literacy. Providing more individualized literary instruction for the district's youngest students, this funding promotes literacy in all of its forms. A stronger grasp of literacy can turn a reluctant learner into an inspired one, and this funding goes towards working to achieve that level of inspiration for all K-5 students. Foundation dollars were also used to help hire a part-time reading specialist at the middle school. This position will help students in the 6th - 8th grades during the school day.
