More about this organization
Mission
New Incentives’ mission is to save lives in a way that does the most good per dollar. Guided by evidence, we provide cash incentives to increase childhood vaccination rates.
About
New Incentives encourages caregivers in Nigeria to fully vaccinate their infants according to the country’s routine immunization schedule. The organization’s mission is straightforward: to save lives in a way that does the most good per dollar.
Many families in rural and low-income communities face considerable barriers to accessing healthcare. Although vaccinations are provided free of charge at government clinics, the costs of transportation and time away from work often prevent caregivers from completing the full vaccination schedule. New Incentives addresses this challenge by offering small but meaningful cash incentives designed to offset transportation and related expenses.
Independent and rigorous research, including a large-scale randomized controlled trial, has demonstrated that this approach doubles the number of fully immunized infants. The results show that modest financial incentives can drive substantial improvements in public health, making New Incentives’ model both life-saving and cost-effective.
Our Impact: Since launching the vaccination program in 2017, we have expanded rapidly across northern Nigeria. In 2025, New Incentives currently operates in over 7,000 clinics across eleven states, having provided 25 million cash transfers and supported the vaccination of more than five million infants. These milestones reflect our deep commitment to improving child health outcomes and maximizing impact per dollar spent.
Collaboration and Growth: Our work would not be possible without the strong partnerships we maintain with local governments, health authorities, and community leaders. Together, we continue to refine and expand our model, guided by data and evidence, to ensure every child has the opportunity to grow up healthy and thrive.
