Mission

Park Pride’s mission is to engage communities to activate the power of parks. We envision an Atlanta with quality parks for all. Engaging a broad and diverse range of people and organizations to activate the power of parks through volunteer projects, community gardens, community-led park designs, and by providing grants for capital park improvements, Park Pride works as a "connector" - bringing governments, corporations, foundations, nonprofits and citizens together to create and extend the benefits that parks offer to every neighborhood in Atlanta.

About

THE FRIENDS OF THE PARK PROGRAM IS THE CORE OF PARK PRIDE'S WORK. THE PROGRAM HELPS TO BUILD AND SUPPORT COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO CREATE POSITIVE, LONG-LASTING CHANGE IN THEIR PARKS. PARK PRIDE PROVIDES THE GROUPS WITH STRUCTURE, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND GUIDANCE AS WELL AS A WIDE RANGE OF RESOURCES TO HELP THEM ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS. "FRIENDS" GROUPS HAVE ACCESS TO TOOLS, VOLUNTEERS, MATCHING GRANTS, DESIGN SERVICES, FUNDRAISING GUIDANCE AS WELL AS EDUCATIONAL AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES. IN 2018, THE FRIENDS OF THE PARK PROGRAM ENGAGED PARK ENTHUSIASTS IN 160 CITY OF ATLANTA AND DEKALB COUNTY PARKS. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WE OFFERED WORKSHOPS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES BUILD LEADERSHIP SKILLS, SHARE RESOURCES, AND LEARN HOW TO IMPROVE LOCAL PARKS. WE HOST MONTHLY MEETINGS TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR NETWORKING ACROSS PARKS AND BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH PARK LEADERSHIP.
