Mission

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a social justice minded nonprofit specializing in offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering and is dedicated to helping all persons in need – regardless of creed, opinion, gender, color, caste, or origin. Your support will help us continue in our mission to help the hungry, homeless, sick, disabled, elderly, and children. We currently serve over 1200 families a month. St. Vincent de Paul is a 501(c) 3 and adheres to the American Disabilities Act and EEOC nondiscrimination laws for all staff, interns and volunteers.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers compassion in action. We focus on people, working one-on-one with those in need. We offer an open door, free of judgment. We share time with individuals to discover their needs and help them stand strong. We offer a range of services to help people start to move forward, to build a better life. In the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a spiritually based lay organization, which leads women and men to join together by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering The essential elements of the Society are Spirituality, Friendship and Service. Vincentians are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level and are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of sharing. Organized locally, Vincentians embrace all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, of Los Angeles is part of a worldwide organization of lay Catholic men and women who are committed to live and grow in their Christian faith through prayer and personal involvement in charitable works. The society's mission is accomplished through parish and community-based groups called conferences and programs called special works. The society's work includes any actions that promote the dignity of the person and alleviate suffering and distress, while correcting the conditions that cause them.
