GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS:UNITED WAY OF YORK COUNTY AS THE FISCAL AGENT FOR THE YORK COUNTY TRUANCY PREVENTION INITIATIVE, RECEIVED FUNDS FOR TPI PROGRAM STAFF AND OPERATIONS TO CONTINUE THEIR WORK WITH SCHOOL DISTRICTS, JUDGES, AGENCIES, SERVICE PROVIDERS, BUSINESS, FAMILIES, AND STUDENTS TO IMPLEMENT CONSISTENT RESPONSES AND INTERVENTIONS ON TRUANCY IN YORK COUNTY. THE BAR FOUNDATION HELPED FOUND AND REMAINS A MAJOR FUNDER OF THE TPI. AS A RESULT OF THIS INITIATIVE, YORK COUNTY'S STATEWIDE TRUANCY RANKING HAS DROPPED FROM 7TH TO 39TH. IMPACT GRANTS:PROMOTING DIVERSITY AND SUPPORTING STUDENTS - THE CLARENCE "CHUCK" N. PATTERSON DIVERSITY INTERNSHIP AT THE PUBLIC DEFENDER'S OFFICE FOR THE SUMMER OF 2018 WAS AWARDED TO TWO CHUCK PATTERSON DIVERSITY INTERNS AT THE PUBLIC DEFENDER'S OFFICE. THEY WERE DISPLACED BY HURRICANE MARIA AND ARE FINISHING THEIR STUDIES AT PITT LAW. THE RICHARD NOLL SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE AWARDED TWO SCHOLARSHIPS TO "DESERVING, NEEDY LAW STUDENT(S) FROM THE GREATER YORK AREA." THE YCBA MILITARY & VETERANS COMMITTEE AWARDED AN WILLIAM PENN HIGH SCHOOL JROTC MEMBER FOR HER DEDICATED INVOLVEMENT IN THE YOUTH COURT ALLIANCE, FUNDS WERE GRANTED TO THE PENNSYLVANIA BAR FOUNDATION PRO BONO PROGRAM AND RABBITRANSIT BUS PASSES WERE PROVIDED TO YORK'S COVENANT HOUSE YOUTH HOMELESS SHELTER. FUNDING WAS GRANTED TO COUNTY OF YORK ADULT PROBATION FOR THE WORK OF CONSULTANT JAN HERROLD TO ADVANCE THE PLANNING FOR PROJECT 2020, THE REORGANIZATION OF THE TREATMENT COURTS INTO WELLNESS COURTS. PROJECT 2020 IS AIMED AT IMPROVING THE LONG-TERM OUTCOMES OF YORK COUNTY CRIMINAL JUSTICE OFFENDERS AND YORK COUNTY FAMILIES INVOLVED IN THE FAMILY COURT SYSTEM.CLOSET2CAREER (C2C) WAS AWARDED FUNDING TO LAUNCH ITS NEW E. KING STREET FACILITY TO ASSIST AND HELP MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE UNDER EMPLOYED/UNEMPLOYED AND/OR ARE RE-ENTERING THE COMMUNITY FROM THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. C2C OFFERS A VARIETY OF SUPPORT AT NO COST TO CLIENTS SUCH AS INTERVIEW AND EMPLOYMENT ATTIRE, EXPLORING CAREER GOALS, RESUME WRITING AND COACHING ON INTERVIEW DO'S AND DON'TS. C2C IS AN OFFSHOOT OF IT'S ABOUT ME (IAM), A MENTORING PROGRAM INITIATED IN JULY 2017 IN THE FEMALE WORK RELEASE SECTION OF THE YORK COUNTY PRISON. IAM IS RUN BY VOLUNTEERS WHO MENTOR INCARCERATED WOMEN ONE-ON-ONE AS WELL AS IN A GROUP SETTING. MENTORS ASSIST THESE WOMEN THROUGH EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS AND DISCUSSION ON SUBJECTS SUCH AS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ABUSE, DRUG AND ALCOHOL ADDICTIONS, WOMEN'S HEALTH, EMOTIONAL AND TRAUMA HEALING. THEY ARE REFERRED TO THE C2C TO EASE THEIR TRANSITION AND ENABLE THEM TO BECOME GAINFULLY EMPLOYED. TO DATE, MORE THAN 70 WOMEN VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM. PENNSYLVANIA IMMIGRATION RESOURCE CENTER RECEIVED AN IMPACT GRANT FUNDING FOR PARTIAL SUPPORT FOR A NEW OFFICE MANAGER POSITION TO COORDINATE ACTIVITIES THAT MEET THE GROWING EDUCATION AND DIRECT SERVICES NEEDS OF IMMIGRANTS/IMMIGRANT FAMILIES, AND LEVERAGE PIRC'S LEGAL STAFF, PROGRAMS, COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, AND EXPERIENCE TO GROW AND REACH ADDITIONAL IMMIGRANTS WHO WOULD OTHERWISE GO UNSERVED. FUNDING WAS GRANTED TO HARD BARGAINS 1777, A PUBLIC ART PROJECT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE YORK COUNTY HISTORY CENTER CELEBRATING YORK'S UNIQUE ROLE IN THE CREATION OF THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION.
