EDUCATIONANNUAL MEETING IS TO BE PART OF THE HOSPITAL MEDICINE MOVEMENT WITH OVER 3,600 ATTENDEES THAT ARE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN OVER 120 DIFFERENT EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS. ADDITIONALLY, AT THE 2019 ANNUAL MEETING THERE WERE OVER 1,100 PARTICIPANTS IN THE POSTER SESSION THAT SHOWCASES AREAS OF ACADEMIC RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND KEY CLINICAL CASES.OTHER EDUCATION INITIATIVESLEADERSHIP ACADEMY - SHM CONDUCTS A 3 PART EDUCATIONAL TRAINING COURSE THAT PREPARES PHYSICIANS FOR MANAGERIAL AND C-SUITE POSITIONS. THESE COURSES FOCUS ON PERSONAL, ORGANIZATIONAL AND TEAM SKILL DEVELOPMENT FOR THOSE LOOKING TO TRANSITION BEYOND THE CLINICAL ROLE. TO DATE, SHM HAS HAD OVER 1,500 GRADUATES OF THE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY.QSEA - IN RESPONSE TO CHANGING REQUIREMENTS FOR RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAMS AND INCREASING NEED FOR SYSTEMS-BASED COMPETENCY, SHM DEVELOPED A COURSE THAT PROVIDES INSTRUCTION AND GUIDANCE ON HOW TO TEACH TRAINEES (PRIMARILY RESIDENTS) QUALITY AND SAFETY TOPICS. THE QUALITY AND SAFETY EDUCATORS ACADEMY PROVIDES MEDICAL EDUCATORS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND TOOLS TO DEVELOP QUALITY IMPROVEMENT AND SAFETY CURRICULA AND LEAD NEW INITIATIVES IN CHANGING ENVIRONMENTS. THE QUALITY AND SAFETY EDUCATORS ACADEMY IS A 2-1/2 DAY ACADEMY DESIGNED AS A FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND SPONSORED BY THE SOCIETY OF HOSPITAL MEDICINE (SHM) AND THE ALLIANCE FOR ACADEMIC INTERNAL MEDICINE (AAIM). IT IS INTENDED FOR:- PROGRAM DIRECTORS OR ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTORS INTERESTED IN ACQUIRING NEW CURRICULAR IDEAS TO HELP THEM MEET THE ACGME REQUIREMENTS WHICH REQUIRE RESIDENCY PROGRAMS TO INTEGRATE QUALITY AND SAFETY INTO THEIR CURRICULUM- MEDICAL SCHOOL LEADERS OR CLERKSHIP DIRECTORS DEVELOPING QUALITY AND SAFETY CURRICULA FOR STUDENTS- FACULTY WHO ARE BEGINNING A NEW ROLE OR EXPANDING AN EXISTING ROLE IN QUALITY AND SAFETY EDUCATION- QUALITY AND SAFETY LEADERS WHO WISH TO EXTEND THEIR INFLUENCE AND EFFECTIVENESS BY LEARNING STRATEGIES TO TEACH AND ENGAGE TRAINEESAHA - FOR SEVEN YEARS, SHM HAS CO-PRESENTED THE ACADEMIC HOSPITALIST ACADEMY, WHICH PROVIDES ACADEMIC HOSPITALISTS WITH THE EDUCATIONAL, SCHOLARLY AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SKILLS THEY NEED TO ADVANCE THEIR CAREERS AND BEGIN A PATHWAY TO SUCCESS IN ACADEMIC HOSPITAL MEDICINE.
