The Safety Equipment Institute administers a certification program that includes auditing and testing for public safety to assist industry and government agencies in meeting their mutual goals of providing workers and consumers the best possible products and environment through testing for public safety in keeping with recognized standards and the current state of the art, and for public benefit to recognize and disseminate information on those products which are certified to meet the applicable standards.

East Passyunk Community Center Advisory Council

Mission

The East Passyunk Community Center (EPCC) is dedicated to serving all members of our community. The Center is operated by the City of Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation (PPR), which launched the Center in August 2015. Through the City, we have staff members on site to run a wide variety of programs, including after school children activities, basketball leagues, summer camps, senior activities, and much more. In addition, the Center has an active Advisory Council made up of volunteers who plan, support and expand community outreach. The Council works with the staff in organizing special events, promoting the Center, raising funds for Center needs, and more. Activities are provided at low-cost or free --- and are available to all! The 35,000-square-foot Center includes a regulation size indoor basketball court with bleachers, a new spray ground installed in May 2023, a large activity room, community meeting rooms, offices, restrooms, a computer lab. vending machines, lobby, outdoor bocce court, kitchen, and community gated outdoor area with planters. Our facilities offer a unique and coveted spot in a neighborhood where space is at a premium for all folks to gather.

The organization recognizes the athletic achievements of those residing in or having brought distinction to a community or communities within the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh and preserve those works for future generations by inducting those athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors of high moral character into the East Boros Sports Hall of Fame and by supporting the inclusion of such persons into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. In addition, the organization provides annual scholarships to local high school athletes who have demonstrated academic as well as athletic excellence.
