Youth Program Amanaahs Youth Program is an academic support program for refugee and other forced migrant students and is designed to strengthen refugee childrens academic development, social communication and leadership capacity in the public school system. Amaanah collaborates with public schools of Houston, Alief, Baker-Ripley, YES Prep, and Austin Independent school districts to provide these services. Amaanah partners with local colleges and universities to hire college students who have an interest in education or non-profits and train them to become effective instructors that understand the background and needs of the population. Instructors are placed within our 15 partner schools to mentor, track, tutor, and support student refugees enrolled in the program. Instructors/mentors may not understand the various background of each refugee and require training and workshops to for best practices when working with refugee youth. Administrators in the public schools provide youth program managers refugee and forced migrant students and their schedules. Amaanah Instructors are then assigned a caseload of students that fall into the same grade level and academic standing to provide a more affective academic support. Public school teachers work with our instructors to ensure each students individual needs are being met.
