AFTER STUDENTS GO THRU THE LUNCH LINE, THE CAN STOP BY THE KC TABLE TO TRY THE VEGGIE OF THE MONTH, IN ADDITION EACH CHILD RECEIVES A VEGGIE OF THE MONTH NEWSLETTER TO TAKE HOME INCLUDING FUN FACTS ABOUT THE VEGETABLE, AN EASY RECIPE, HOME CHALLENGES. "KIDS COOK CELEBRATED 16 YEARS OF PARTNERSHIP WITH AMY BIEHL HIGH SCHOOLS AND CONTINUES TO WORK WITH UNM STUDENTS, PROVIDING SERVICE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES. THIS YEAR WE HAD 1 ABHS AND 6 UNM STUDENTS CONTRIBUTING APPROX. 1200 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE TO KIDS COOK AND THE STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN KIDS COOK "KIDS COOK CONTINUES AS AN OFF-SITE WORK STUDY PROGRAM ALLOWING STUDENTS TO GAIN JOB EXPERIENCE AS WELL AS REDUCE KIDS COOK STAFFING COSTS. WE EMPLOYED 4 UNM WORK-STUDY STUDENTS. "KIDS COOK IS AN ACTIVE COMMUNITY PARTNER, WE ARE ACTIVE IN THE BERNALILLO COUNTY HEALTHY HERE COALITION, PARTICIPATING IN THE MOBILE FARMERS MARKET, OFFERING KIDS AND ADULT CLASSES THROUGH THE WELLNESS REFERRAL CENTER, COLLABORATION WITH WIC AND DOWNTOWN GROWERS MARKET COOKING WITH WIC FAMILIES USING FRESH VEGETABLES AND ENCOURAGE WIC PARTICIPANTS TO SHOP AT THE LOCAL MARKET, INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT BI-ANNUAL HEALTH FAIR. "KIDS COOK FUDRR APP IS SLOWLY GAINING TRACTION AND THIS YEAR WE WERE ABLE TO STABILIZE THE PLATFORM WE ARE USING. THIS INNOVATIVE, INTERACTIVE APP ENCOURAGES ALL NEW MEXICANS TO CELEBRATE THEIR HEALTH AND REWARD THEM WITH FOOD DOLLARS TO PURCHASE FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.
