Mission

Anna Julia Cooper Episcopal School is an independent, faith-based middle school for students of limited resources primarily from Richmond’s East End neighborhood. All students receive a full-tuition scholarship to attend. Through a program focused on academic, social, and spiritual development, we help prepare students for success in high school, college and in their own communities. We value parents and volunteers as integral to our success both as a school and a community of affection. Helping to ensure that our students are on a path toward a full and decent life is our fundamental reason for being here.

About

The school serves both boys and girls middle school age kids 4th through 8th grade. Core classes consist of math, science, history and English with physical education and weekly chapel services. There is an extended day program that offers art, theater, mentoring and outdoor activities. The required summer program offers math and English enrichment classes as well as athletic, fine arts and cooking classes.
