Mission

To produce public educational documentary motion pictures and other media

About

In 2017, Walking Iris Media continues to distribute its collection of five documentaries to educational institutions across the US. Our film, Out Run, screened at film festivals in the UK, the Netherlands, Australia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and several other countries. Our documentary project in progress, Ma Liangs Time Machine, received significant funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting through ITVS, and will be slated for PBS broadcast once it is completed in 2019. Another new documentary project, 'Born to be Second', received funding from the Sundance Documentary Film Program. Our Executive Director, S. Leo Chiang, was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in 2017. One of our programs, the Asian American Documentary Network, which supports Asian American filmmakers and programmers in the documentary field, continues to grow to over 200 members. We participated in the Association for Asian American Studies conference, and convened at the Ford Foundation office in New York to discuss programming priorities.
