Artistic vision combines with educational and civic values to drive Irvine Barclay Theatre’s (IBT) mission, which is: “To broaden the scope, availability and appreciation of the arts in Orange County by being a leading cultural presenter of diverse and exceptional artists, and by providing a state-of-the-art venue for community cultural organizations and university programs.” To accomplish this, the Barclay (1) presents and commissions top quality artists from around the world in artistic and educational programming that is rare in the region, and creates and sustains signature programs, such as its Contemporary Dance Series, Hawaiian Music Masters Series, National Theatre Live and the New World Flamenco Festival; (2) provides an affordable first-class venue to community and university artists and to a wide range of cultural organizations, ranging from storefront operations to the Wooden Floor and Philharmonic Society of Orange County; and (3) welcomes the public into a space distinguished for its human scale (750 seats) and excellent production values for world class performances at neighborhood prices.
