Mission

Health Frontiers is a volunteer outreach of health professionals focused on medical education in Laos, and the special needs of children in disasters.

About

Laos project - this has been our flagship project for the last 29 years. Hundreds of Health Frontiers volunteers have helped the Lao University of Health Sciences establish the first graduate medical education in Lao history. It has grown into successful training programs in pediatrics and internal medicine, graduating 118 specialists to date. They are now helping to transform health care in one of Asia's neediest populations and taking increasing responsibility for the three year training programs. We are also in year three of helping the Lao University to build a new residency in emergency medicine. We are now able to reduce our support to these programs while increasing our support for the subspecialty training of top Lao graduates in collaboration with Khon Kaen University and other regional centers. The Lao subspecialists will increasingly replace our Health Frontier volunteers.
