Mission

Metavivor is dedicated to the specific fight of women and men living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. At the time of Metavivor’s founding, no organization was dedicated to funding research for the disease and no patient groups were speaking out about the dearth of stage 4 cancer research. While more and more people have taken up the cry for more stage 4 research, Metavivor remains the sole US organization dedicated to awarding annual stage 4 breast cancer research.

About

This year Metavivor awarded or paid stage IV metastatic breast cancer research grants to Virginia Commonwealth University, Michigan State University, National Cancer Institute, University of Texas MD Anderson, Houston Methodist Research Institute, Purdue University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Pennsylvania, Icahn School of Medicine, Harvard University, University of California, University of Southern California, University of Arizona, University of Illinois, University of Minnesota, Baylor University, University of Kentucky, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, and Dana Faber Cancer Institute. This year Metavivor worked on patient advocacy issues and continued its nationwide peer support leader training program. We developed new website capabilities to provide online resources to support these programs and to support our research grant application process.
