SINCE THIS TIME, SCCH HAS BEEN COMMITTED TO SERVING THE RESIDENTS IN A FOUR-COUNTY AREA. SCCH CURRENTLY OPERATES A SHORT-TERM, ACUTE-CARE FACILITY AND SEVERAL SATELLITE CLINICS OFFERING INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT HEALTHCARE SERVICES, PHYSICIAN SERVICES, AND HOME HEALTH CARE, PRIMARILY TO PATIENTS IN THE CARSON CITY, MICHIGAN AREA, INCLUDING GRATIOT, MONTCALM, CLINTON, AND IONIA COUNTIES. SCCH PROVIDES CARE TO PATIENTS WHO MEET CERTAIN CRITERIA UNDER ITS CHARITY CARE POLICY WITHOUT CHARGE OR AT AMOUNTS LESS THAN ESTABLISHED RATES. SCCH PROVIDES SIGNIFICANT CARE TO THE LOCAL INDIGENT POPULATION FOR WHICH REIMBURSEMENT FOR SERVICES RENDERED IS GENERALLY LESS THAN THE COST OF PROVIDING SUCH SERVICES AS PART OF ITS OBLIGATION TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. SCCH ALSO PROVIDES SERVICES TO INDIGENT PATIENTS UNDER THE MEDICAID PROGRAM AT PAYMENT AMOUNTS LESS THAN THE COST OF THE SERVICES PROVIDED.
