Mission
Since 1967, The Other Way Ministries has sought to build a community of hope and extend the love of Christ in our neighborhood. We are a grassroots, not-for-profit, community development organization. Our desire is to respond to critical needs on the Westside of Grand Rapids with creative, preventative, and developmental programming. As an organization, we strive to put our faith into daily practice by investing in the lives and futures of our urban neighbors. Through nurturing mutual relationships and building on the assets of our neighbors, it is our goal to educate and equip families, facilitate economic stability and growth and develop diverse, indigenous leadership to build stronger, Christ-centered families and a stronger community.

Early childhood education: Little Lights infant and toddler program partners with the early learning neighborhood collaborative to provide tuition-free infant, toddler, and pre-school program for income-qualifying families. Infant/toddler classrooms operate 10 hours per day, 5 days per week, using evidenced-based curriculum and practices. Participation in Little Lights also includes meals, diapers, and formula at no cost, and a number of family supports including teacher home visits, resource referrals, dental and developmental screenings, supports for special needs students, and other services.
