In Senegal, worked with local manufacturing firm to redesign and test threshers for improved efficiency and functionality. Provided trainings to build the capacity of staff and representatives of local partners and smallholder farmer organizations on how to use, maintain, repair grinders and threshers. Additional trainings included basic business management, organizational development, and millet processing methods for quality millet flour and value-added products. Trainings reached 84 participants in 2 regions where millet is predominantly farmed. Additional follow-up trainings were provided to all members of local organizations and smallholder farmer organizations to ensure participants retained information and are utilizing skills learned. These trainings reached 256 participants. In Malawi, delivered 36 groundnut shellers to a network of smallholder farmers in Mozambique, reaching hundreds of groundnut farmers. Delivered a set of groundnut processing tools to a rural community in Tanzania to test and assess market viability. Established a food technology center in central Malawi reaching 600 smallholder farmers. Farmers received two sets of groundnut processing tools to use and build a business to generate income for their communities.
