THE EDEN PRAIRIE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION WAS CREATED IN 1981 TO BE A VEHICLE FOR PHILANTHROPY, COLLABORATION, AND LEADERSHIP IN EDEN PRAIRIE. ITS FOUNDERS ENVISIONED AN ORGANIZATION THAT WOULD MONITOR THE COMMUNITY'S GREATEST NEEDS AND RALLY THE RESOURCES NEEDED TO MEET THOSE NEEDS. EPCF HAS AWARDED MORE THAN $2 MILLION IN GRANTS TO NEARLY 100 DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS. GRANTS TOTALING MORE THAN $154,135 WERE AWARDED THE PAST YEAR, HELPING TO PROVIDE: FRESH, NUTRITIOUS FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED; TECHNOLOGY TO MAKE NONPROFITS MORE EFFICIENT; WINTER HOME MAINTENANCE SERVICE FOR SENIORS; BETTER ACCESS TO SOCIAL SERVICES; FUNDING FOR KIDS' SUMMER STEM CAMP; AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING OF IMMIGRANTS AND OTHER STUDENTS; IMPROVEMENTS TO AN EDEN PRAIRIE GROUP HOME; AND SUPPORT TO YOUNG ADULTS WHO ARE PRECARIOUSLY HOUSED.TO FOSTER LEADERSHIP, COLLABORATION, PHILANTHROPY, VOLUNTEERISM, AND OVERALL "GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY," THE FOUNDATION CO-HOSTS AN ANNUAL VOLUNTEER FAIR AND AN ANNUAL COMMUNITY LEADERS LUNCHEON. IT PARTNERS WITH THE CITY AND SCHOOLS ON A "STATE OF EDEN PRAIRIE" PRESENTATION TO THE PUBLIC AND GATHERS MONTHLY WITH EDEN PRAIRIE'S NONPROFIT LEADERS TO DISCUSS TOPICS OF MUTUAL INTEREST. IT ALSO PARTNERED WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, CITY, AND FOUNDATION FOR EDEN PRAIRIE SCHOOLS ON AN OCTOBER 2017 LUNCHEON TO THANK THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS FOR THEIR SERVICE TO EDEN PRAIRIE WHILE OPERATING THEIR HEADQUARTERS AND TRAINING FACILITY IN EDEN PRAIRIE FOR THE LAST 35-PLUS YEARS.
