SINCE 1984, HELP AT YOUR DOOR HAS ENABLED PEOPLE TO AGE CONFIDENTLY AT HOME BY PROVIDING CRITICAL SERVICES THAT GIVE ACCESS TO NUTRITIOUS FOOD, PERSONAL CONTACT, AND A HELPFUL HAND IN THE HOMES OF THOUSANDS OF SENIORS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES ACROSS THE SEVEN COUNTIES ENCOMPASSING MINNESOTA'S GREATER METRO AREA OF MINNEAPOLIS AND ST. PAUL. OUR SERVICES, WHICH INCLUDE GROCERY ASSISTANCE, HOME SUPPORT (CLEANING AND REPAIR), AND TRANSPORTATION, ARE DESIGNED TO ENHANCE QUALITY OF LIFE, IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES AND MEET THE DIVERSE NEEDS OF OUR CLIENTS, THEIR FAMILIES AND CAREGIVERS. HELP AT YOUR DOOR'S TEAM IS MADE UP OF 20 MISSION-DRIVEN STAFF, A SKILLED BOARD, AND MORE THAN 600 DEDICATED AND VETTED VOLUNTEERS THAT ARE PAIRED WITH CLIENTS TO PERFORM REGULAR, PROACTIVE OUTREACH VIA PHONE AND IN-HOME VISITS. IN FISCAL YEAR 2017, WE SERVED 1,317 CLIENTS WITH 45% BEING 80 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AND MADE 42,722 PERSONAL INTERACTIONS (AVERAGING 32 PER CLIENT); THESE CONNECTIONS ARE ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT GIVEN THAT 82% OF OUR CLIENTS LIVE ALONE AND OFTEN WE ARE THE ONLY FRIENDLY FACE AND CHECK-IN THEY RECEIVE.WE ARE ONE OF FIVE ORGANIZATIONS NATIONWIDE THAT ACCEPTS SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM BENEFITS AND WE WORK REGULARLY WITH LOCAL FOOD SHELVES TO HELP ENSURE THAT THOSE WHO ARE STRUGGLING RECIEVE NOURISHMENT. APPROXIMATELY, 80% OF OUR CLIENTS HAVE INCOMES BELOW OR WITHIN 200% OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL. IN 2017, HELP AT YOUR DOOR MADE 14,474 FOOD DELIVERIES THROUGH OUR GROCERY ASSISTANCE SERVICE. AND WITH THE NUMBER OF SENIORS WHO NEED SUPPORT EXPECTED TO DOUBLE IN THE NEXT DECADE, MAKING ALMOST 1 IN 5 MINNESOTANS A SENIOR - OUR SERVICES AND THE CONSISTENT CONNECTION THAT THEY PROVICE ARE ESSENTIAL TO ENSURING OUR AGING POPULATION REMAINS HEALTHY, CARED FOR, AND IN THEIR HOMES.
