Mission

Common Hope promotes hope and opportunity in Guatemala, partnering with children, families, and communities who want to participate in a process of development to improve their lives through education, health care, and housing.

About

Education: Common Hope helped provide pre-primary, primary, secondary, and university education for 3,451 students in 2018 by paying for tuition and fees, books and supplies, shoes and uniforms. We celebrated 160 young men and women who earned their high school diploma, most of them being first generation graduates. Common Hope has supported over 2,250 students in completing their high school education! In addition, educational support programs offered tutoring, summer school, special education, access to libraries and computer labs, youth groups, and teacher training. Moreover, Common Hope operated a school for primary and pre-primary students at New Hope Village, and we served an additional 759 students in public primary schools through our reading and math initiatives through partner schools, a program designed to improve the quality of education for all students who attend.
