Mission

The mission of the Norwegian-American Historical Association (NAHA) is to locate, collect, preserve and interpret the Norwegian-American experience with accuracy, integrity, and liveliness. To achieve this goal, we maintain an active acquisitions program focusing on materials related to Norwegian-American immigration and immigrants. In addition to maintaining the largest archive of Norwegian-American immigration materials, we have an active publications program to encourage scholarship in this area.

About

Membership: The association's primary membership activities include hosting educational events and tours. NAHA also produces a quarterly newsletter to inform and educate members about our collections and topics related to Norwegian-American immigration history. In April, NAHA hosted its third annual spring member meetup, featuring art historian and author Sigrid Lien from University of Bergen. In October, NAHA collaborated with the East Side Freedom Library in St. Paul to host 'Immigration, Community, and Archives on St. Paul's East Side,' which included a walking tour of the Payne-Phalen neighborhood, guided by Macalester College emeritus professor of history Peter Rachleff. Following the walking tour, participants enjoyed presentations from the founders of St. Paul's Hmong Archives and the National Khmer Legacy Museum.
