The Wornall/Majors House Museums engage the community by bringing history to life through hands-on, innovative programs and experiences at each house and in the community at schools, retirement centers and other venues. Valued supporters of the Wornall/Majors House Museums continue to lay a foundation for a more sustainable future of two of Kansas City's most beloved historic structures. The museums offer public tours, school field trips, scouting field trips, public programs, living history events and reenactments. The House Museums experienced a 111% increase in visitation of all ages for tours in 2018. Field trip attendance for school age children rose 32% in the past two years. Growing community partnerships with organizations such as the Black Archives and the Heart of America assist efforts to fulfill our mission. We are filled with excitement as the new year approaches. 2019 will bring even more opportunities for support as we prepare for interactive events for youth such as the second annual Civil War Field Day and "revealing" programs like Wornall/Majors Uncovered exploring lore and little-known mysteries of the House Museums. Historic sites and museums have an important role in helping the public think critically about the past and how it effects the present. We strive to be a destination for those seeking inclusive and engaging Civil Way education, both locally and nationally. The generosity, spirit, and commitment of the community help us make a difference that matters. Continued support of the House Museums ensures that the community and visitors have access to the best-preserved, most engagingly showcased ways that the past is present in Kansas City.
