Mission

RE-volv’s mission is to tackle climate change at the local level by empowering people to accelerate the adoption of clean energy in their communities, especially those that are often excluded from the benefits of the clean energy economy. At RE-volv, we believe that everyone can participate in building a clean energy future and in spreading the word about the benefits of solar energy. Our goal is to provide access to solar energy to nonprofits across the country that serve disadvantaged communities that otherwise could not go solar, while training the next generation of solar energy leaders in the process.

About

In 2018 RE-volv crowdfunded seven new solar installations for non profits, more than any year in existence, bringing the total number of crowdfunded solar projects to 16. The seven community-serving nonprofits were in four states: California, Ohio, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. Collectively these nonprofist serve over 12,000 members of their communities with critical services that improve quality of life from affordable housing, to feed the hungry, to providing support for veterans. Over the lifetime of the solar systems, these nonprofits will collectively save over $360,000 on their elecTric bills, which they can use to better serve their community. During this time, they will avoid emitting 3.8 million pounds of carbon-dioxide, which is the equivalent of reducing automobile driving by 4.2 million miles, or planting 1,670 acres of trees. The real heroes behind these projects are the 120 volunteer "Solar Ambassadors"who RE-volv trained and coached throughout the year to lead these projects at the community level, while educating their fellow community members about the benefits of solar energy. In 2018 RE-volv Solar Ambassador College Fellows hailed from 11 universities in 10 states.
