The Careyes Foundation has produced four books in a series of custom-made English-Spanish textbooks, tailored specifically to the educational needs of elementary school children in rural areas. This series and accompanying curriculum will provide them with the necessary tools to become bilingual and, ultimately, to be more productive and successful members of their communities. Through this program, around 850 children in 11 villages receive weekly lessons delivered by volunteer English teachers. In September 2019, the Careyes Foundation began laying the groundwork to establish a vocational training center in the community of Emiliano Zapata using an established, accessible online training (CON SCH O) platform. This work included developing a program budget, fundraising, outlining a program structure, identifying a qualified teacher/coordinator to head the program, and finding a space for the program.
