Mission

The mission of Missouri Safe and Sober is to deliver outcome-based educational programs designed to empower young people to make safe choices.

About

During the 2018-2019 school year, a record number of Missouri schools signed up for Safe and Sober. Safe and Sober provided a free, video-based program to 506 middle and high schools with more than 170,000 students. Students watch a video featuring real teens and families designed to show the importance of staying safe and sober. Students are then asked to take a pledge to make safe choices. Positive peer pressure and support from parents and teachers holds students accountable and creates a culture of change within each school. Safe and Sober also provides parents with information about the dangers of underage drinking, as well as tips for setting limits and expectations for their teen about avoiding drugs and alcohol. Safe and Sober primarily operates from revenue from private donors and a state highway safety grant.
