CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE, AS THE UNDERLYING CAUSE OF DEATH, ACCOUNTS FOR NEARLY 801,000 DEATHS IN THE U.S WHICH IS ABOUT ONE OUT OF EVERY 3.METHODIST HOSPITAL HAS BEEN A LEADER IN THE CARE AND TREATMENT OF THOSE WHO COME TO US IN OUR EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT OR ARE DIAGNOSED WITH CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE. WE HAVE LONG BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT IN CARING FOR THESE PATIENTS AND ARE ALWAYS EXPLORING WAYS TO ENHANCE THEIR TREATMENT AND LIFESTYLE.METHODIST HOSPITAL'S COMMITMENT AND SUCCESS IN IMPLEMENTING AN EXCEPTIONAL STANDARD OF CARE FOR CARDIAC PATIENTS HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION AND THE JOINT COMMISSION.IN 2018, METHODIST HOSPITAL WAS AWARDED THE JOINT COMMISSION'S GOLD SEAL OF APPROVAL FOR CHEST PAIN CERTIFICATION. THE GOLD SEAL OF APPROVAL IS A SYMBOL OF QUALITY THAT REFLECTS AN ORGANIZATION'S COMMITMENT TO PROVIDING SAFE AND EFFECTIVE PATIENT CARE. METHODIST HOSPITAL ALSO RECEIVED THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION/AMERICAN STROKE ASSOCIATION'S GET WITH THE GUIDELINES-STROKE SILVER PLUS QUALITY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. THE AWARD RECOGNIZES THE HOSPITAL'S COMMITMENT TO ENSURING STROKE PATIENTS RECEIVE THE MOST APPROPRIATE TREATMENT ACCORDING TO NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED, RESEARCH-BASED GUIDELINES BASED ON THE LATEST SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE.IN 2018, WE DEBUTED A NEW, MORE CENTRALLY LOCATED CARDIOVASCULAR CENTER AT METHODIST HOSPITAL. LARGER PROCEDURE ROOMS, A CLOSER PROXIMITY TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AND OUR CARDIOVASCULAR SURGICAL SUITES HAVE FURTHER ENHANCED OUR ABILITY TO CARE FOR OUR PATIENTS.THE CARDIOVASCULAR CENTER OFFERS THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY TO BETTER EVALUATE OUR PATIENT'S CARDIAC HEALTH. HOME TO OUR ECHO LAB, HEART STATION AND VASCULAR LAB, METHODIST CARDIOLOGISTS AND CARE TEAM MEMBERS ASSESS AND DEVELOP COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT PLANS.IN 2018, METHODIST HOSPITAL DEBUTED THE WATCHMAN PROCEDURE, WHICH IS TARGETED FOR THOSE PATIENTS WITH ATRIAL FIBRILLATION. IN ADDITION, A NEW WIRELESS PACEMAKER PROCEDURE WAS ALSO INTRODUCED. BOTH HAVE BEEN RECEIVED AND PERFORMED WITH GREAT SUCCESS MAKING AN IMPACT ON THE LIVES OF PATIENTS.ALSO A LEADER IN STROKE CARE AND TREATMENT, METHODIST WOMEN'S HOSPITAL BECAME THE FIRST ACUTE STROKE READY HOSPITAL IN NEBRASKA CERTIFIED BY THE JOINT COMMISSION AND THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION/AMERICAN STROKE ASSOCIATION. THE SITE CAN ASSESS AND PROVIDE INITIAL TREATMENT TO STROKE PATIENTS, BEFORE TRANSFERRING PATIENTS TO METHODIST HOSPITAL FOR FURTHER TREATMENT.
