In 2018, the organization published one research report, sponsored or cosponsored six public events and organized three focus-group-like roundtable sessions for employers and educators. Among the topics covered by this research and convening: career-focused charter schools, unregistered apprenticeship, secondary and postsecondary career education.The organizations most important accomplishment in 2018: spearheading a bipartisan working group of scholars and policy experts that published a book-length volume of policy proposals designed to restore economic opportunity for the American working class. The group was convened by Opportunity America and cosponsored by the American Enterprise Institute and Brookings. The group met regularly over 18 months to prepare the report. Just prior to publication, in fall 2018, Opportunity America organized two two-day listening tours in working-class enclaves of Ohio and Michigan. Publication involved some half dozen launch events, including a Capitol Hill briefing and a panel discussion at the American Enterprise Institute. The report received wide attention in the media and Washington policy circles.
