About this organization
Mission
To encourage innovative and interdisciplinary methodological approaches to the history of printmaking.
About
Between July 2015 and June 2016, we held several public events and workshops in support of our mission. On September 25, 2015, we held our inaugural Distinguished Speaker Lecture, given by Dr. Peter Parshall, former curator of Old Master Prints at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. His lecture was subsequently reprinted in a special issue of the journal "Art in Print." We held a scholarly conference on November 7, 2015 at Hunter College featuring 5-minute talks by nine graduate students about their dissertations and longer talks by six more senior scholars. At the annual conference of the College Art Association in February 2016 in Washington, DC, we held our first affiliated society panel and hosted a networking event for members. And in May 2016, we held a major educational workshop for ten early-career scholars to learn printmaking techniques from master printmakers. This event, supported by a major grant, occurred in Providence, Rhode Island, at the Rhode Island School of Design and a private printmaking studio called Overpass Projects.
