Mission

Immigrant Defenders Law Center (ImmDef) is a next-generation social justice law firm that defends our immigrant communities against injustices in the immigration system. We are a 501(c)3 founded in 2015 by a group of experienced public interest immigration lawyers, we believe that the right to counsel in immigration court is a necessary step towards ensuring due process for all and our model of universal representation is built on this principle. We envision a future where no immigrant is forced to face an unjust immigration system alone. Our current service area includes the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and border regions of Mexicali and San Diego/Tijuana.

About

During the year ImmDef's practice focused on the most marginalized groups of immigrants who are facing deportation proceedings: unaccompanied children and mentally incompetent adults. Without our services, our clients would be forced to face these complicated and high-stakes court proceedings alone since there is no public defender system for immigrants in the United States.
