About

Access to Independence of San Diego, Inc. is a center for independent living, serving the county of San Diego, Imperial, and Honolulu. Each branch offers core services that include transition, diversion, peer support, personal assistance, advocacy, and information and referral. In addition to these services, each branch offers unique programs based on the local needs of the community we serve. All of our services are free of charge to all people with a disability regardless of type of disability or age. Access to Independence is committed to community integration and advocate on systemic issues in order to create barrier-free communities. In the year ending 9.30.19, we provided services to 934 consumers. 4,948 individuals received information and referral services. 1,107 independent living goals were met with the assistance of our staff. 803 hours were spent in the community advocating for systemic change on issues ranging from employment to transportation to healthcare access for people with disabilities. We transitioned 70 consumers from institutional based settings to community based living and assisted 83 youth with disabilities in the transition process to employment, career and post high school education options.
