Mission
The mission of the SMSA is to provide scholarships to children and grandchildren of America's Fighting Seabees. Our scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated academic achievement, community involvement, leadership in their interests and financial need. With members of the Seabee Battalions deployed around the globe supporting combat, disaster recovery and humanitarian assistance missions we strive to relieve some of the financial stress on these families. By providing college scholarships to their children we are helping the family as well as the student and assisting these young adults to make a better future for themselves. The SMSA has awarded over $6.5 million of scholarships since 1972.
