BOSTON CHILDREN'S CHORUS (BCC) SERVED 430 SINGERS IN 13 CHOIRS AT 5 LEVELS OF ABILITY. SINGERS PERFORMED IN OVER 50 SHOWS IN AND AROUND THE BOSTON AREA, REACHING THOUSANDS OF LISTENERS. FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE ORGANIZATION'S HISTORY, BCC PERFORMED THE 2019 DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. TRIBUTE CONCERT TO A SOLD-OUT SYMPHONY HALL, WITH 2600 PATRONS IN ATTENDANCE. ARTISTIC HIGHLIGHTS ALSO INCLUDE THE BCC'S DEBUT PERFORMANCES AT TWO NOTABLE VENUES IN BOSTON. THE WINTER CONCERT WAS PRESENTED AT THE HUNTINGTON THEATER, AND THE SEASON FINALE TOOK PLACE AT ONE OF BOSTON'S LARGEST PERFORMANCE VENUES, THE WANG THEATER (3500 SEATS). GUEST ARTIST, AND AMERICAN IDOL RUNNER-UP, MELINDA DOOLITTLE JOINED SINGERS ON STAGE FOR THE FINALE PERFORMANCE ENTITLED, HER SONG. SINGERS WERE ALSO JOINED BY A SPECIAL "SISTER'S CHOIR" THIS CHOIR COMPRISED OF SISTERS, MOTHERS, AUNTS, GRANDMOTHERS, AND FRIENDS OF BCC SINGERS, PERFORMING THE SONG "SISTERS ARE DOIN' FOR THEMSELVES." BCC CONTINUED A PROUD PARTNERSHIP WITH THE GARDNER MUSEUM, PRESENTING TWO CONCERTS, ONE IN THE FALL OF 2018, AND THE OTHER IN THE SPRING OF 2019. BCC SINGERS EMBARKED ON THREE MAJOR TOURS FOR THE 2018-2019 SEASON. THE ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE ENSEMBLE TRAVELLED TO WASHINGTON DC TO PERFORM IN THE THREE TREBLES FESTIVAL, ALONGSIDE PRINCETON GIRL CHOIR AND THE WASHINGTON CHILDREN'S CHORUS. CONCERT CHOIR TRAVELLED TO VERMONT AND NEW HAMPSHIRE, AND THE PREMIER CHOIR AND YOUNG MEN'S ENSEMBLE TRAVELED TO TASMANIA AND SYDNEY IN AUSTRALIA. THE PREMIER CHOIR AND YOUNG MEN'S ENSEMBLE WERE BOTH FEATURED IN A TELEVISED PERFORMANCE AT THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE. SINGERS IN TRAINING AND INTERMEDIATE CHOIRS PERFORMED SONGS FROM BCC'S PARTNERSHIP PROJECT WITH BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS (BPS). SONGS WERE COLLECTED FROM COMMUNITY MEMBERS, TRANSCRIBED AND ARRANGED FOR THE CHOIRS TO PERFORM MORE CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE REPERTOIRE. ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMATIC HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE THE REPRISE OF THE EAST BOSTON POP UP CHOIR, AND A POP-UP CHOIR IN THE MERRIMACK VALLEY. BCC'S PRESENCE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS INCREASED WITH ADDITIONAL WORKSHOP VISITS TO VARIOUS BOSTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
