About this organization
Mission
The mission of the Sonoma County Public Library Foundation is to strengthen the ability of the Sonoma County Library to serve our community by raising funds to support the library, and to promote the use of library resources, enthusiasm for reading, and increased literacy for all Sonoma County residents.
About
Library program funding. The organization raises and donates funds to the Sonoma County Library. Sonoma County has 14 libraries that serve over 2 million visitors per year. Over the past few years the foundation has donated between $100,000 to $200,000 annually to support library programs. Since 2015 we have sponsored the summer library reading program for children and teens, encouraging literacy and preventing summer learning loss. We led the effort to establish a temporary library branch in Roseland, a historically underserved neighborhood, and provided over $70,000 to purchase books and computers to jumpstart the project. Our mini-grant program funded 12 innovative programs throughout the county: an immensely successful art program working with the homeless in Santa Rosa; a free performance by the Santa Rosa Symphony in Cloverdale; and the purchase of new technology tools to help kids explore, imagine and develop literacy skills in Rohnert Park and Petaluma.
