The mission of Communities in Schools of South Central Texas is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

CIS-SCT serving six school districts cased managed 3,415 at-risk students with intensive, individualized, holistic services and provided two or more services to over 30,000 students. CIS-SCT accomplished this in collaboration with 1,887 volunteers providing 22,306 hours of services and over 322 community partnerships to meet the needs of students and their families. Through a combination of individual and group services CIS-SCT was able to impact the lives of young people so that: 69% improved in attendance; 91% showed improvement in academic performance; 99% stayed in school; 96% were promoted to the next grade and 99% of eligible seniors graduated. 491 mentors were matched with students in need of an adult role model; 407 high school students were provided with college and career preparation activities; 5,254 students received suicide prevention programming; 161 adults were trained in life saving youth mental health first aid.
