About

The California Capital Airshows programs, exhibits and outreach events provide no-cost learning opportunities for educators and an opportunity for academic enrichment in a unique environment as well as helping to create a better pool of future employees for regional companies. All CCAs efforts are designed to spark the imagination of students, teach them something that a book, classroom or museum cannot. The Airshow strives to make an impact each year to our community and beyond. These are just a few powerful examples of how Airshows can change the worldone kid at a time.Airshow Weekend:LAUNCHPADThe LaunchPad experience targets teens with a dynamic, interactive STEM enrichment exhibit that promotes possibilities within the STEM subject areas (science, technology, engineering and math) as the students consider college and career choices. LaunchPad combines students love of games and technology with real world application. Filled with aircraft, space artifacts, simulators, VR activities and more, guests can watch demonstrations, participate in games and experience first-hand the clear relationship between the aviation, aerospace and STEM studies. Volunteer counselors, local youth organizations and academic institutions helped over 12,000 young people understand how they can continue their interest in STEM education, including creating a school-to-career blueprint and information on how to join and pursue STEM-related fun and interesting activities long after the Airshow gates closed. This progressive collaboration between the California Capital Airshow, caring community partners and regional educators produce this massive 25,000 square foot pavilion allowing students and their parents the opportunity to enjoy a hand-on educational experience designed to spark the interest of young adults and their involvement with STEM while helping to provide the aviation and aerospace industries with a new generation of professionals. ROBOTICS COMPETITION The First Robotics Competition at the Airshow combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. High-school students from across the region are challenged to build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. Its as close to real-world engineering as a student can get and the public gets an up close look at what these students have accomplished and the chance to share group/club opportunities like this with other young people. DRONE HANGARThe Drone Hangar at the Airshow offers a chance to see the many functions, capabilities and benefits of drone technology. Visitors enjoy hands-on instruction, activities and demonstrations by the leaders in this cutting-edge industry as they inspire the next generation to explore the endless career opportunities as well as rethink, reimagine and reinvent the future of UAV Technology. Drones, aka unmanned aerial vehicles or UAV, have entered the public conscious in a major way in the past few years. This unique event educated attendees on the many functions and abilities of drones as well as the capacities and benefits of drone technology in a variety of industries.
