My friend's house is an emergency shelter that provides around-the-clock residential care and services in partnership with child protective services for kids who have been removed from their home due to abuse and/or neglect. Runaway and homeless youth are also granted support through my friend's house with an average stay of 21 days, often referred through the juvenile court system, school districts, or word of mouth. My friend's house serves all surrounding counties, and is the only shelter of its kind in Collin County that specializes in keeping sibling groups together, and providing services to runaway and homeless youth with a focus on family reunification. My friend's house served 115 clients in 2019. City House provides young adults up to 24 years old with financial assistance and services. To prevent further homelessness, young adults are connected with local apartment managers who work with their limited credit and financial history. Services provided include financial training and case management.
