Bring Me A Book Foundation's mission is to strengthen the language and literacy skills of under-served children ages 0 to 8 by providing books in homes and school.

About

General Program A total of 6,556 books were distributed throughout the year, including Book Buddies, Book Cubby workshops and in general book donations to several nonprofit groups including teen mother programs, low income clinic waiting rooms, and foster youth. We provided bookshelves to medical clinics and low-income classrooms. Our volunteers logged 3,807 hours.Book BuddiesThe Book Buddy program expanded to 33 classrooms serving 704 preschool, transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten and first grade students. Classrooms are low-income, including Head Start, state funded Child Development Centers, community-based nonprofit preschools and Title I schools. The 704 students were visited 16 times during the year by their trained Book Buddy, where they engaged in a read aloud time with learning extension activities. The Book Buddy gifted the hardcover book to the classroom library after each of the 16 visits. A total of 528 books were donated to the classroom libraries. Each of the 704 students received 2 hardcover books in English to take and keep at home. (1,408 books) Students whose parents are learning English received an additional 2 books in Spanish. (760 books)Book CubbiesBook cubbies are distributed through the Family Book Cubby Workshops. The partners in these events are the preschools/schools that have Book Buddies or other nonprofits that serve low-income communities. A total of 21 Family Book Cubby Workshops were held. Families painted and decorated a cubby for each child, parents attended a workshop on the importance of reading aloud, and each child received 2-3 new hardcover books in English and/or Spanish. A total of 443 cubbies were distributed.
