On May 26, 2013, the Colorado Freedom Memorial, the first of its kind in the country, was dedicated to Colorado and Colorado's gold star families in honor of Colorado's fallen soldiers from every war dating back to the Spanish American War and every branch of the military, after more than 12 years of private fundraising and donations.
