Rossinca Heritage School San Jose, Inc.San Jose, CA
'Cultural understanding + sharing = peace' We believe that when children and their families understand their own culture, sharing theirs and learning ours, the most natural outcome is peace. We build bridges instead of walls. By valuing their culture we see genuine reciprocity in embracing ours together. We begin with children so that they can confidently understand who they are, where they are, and may continue their journey, simultaneously proud of their origins and new home. In this way, each child becomes a bridge in and of themselves, empowered to lead from within and without.'
Read with me volunteer programs a california nonprofit public benefiPalm Desert, CA
To work with public schools that have a high concentration of children living in poverty and/or homes where no english is spoken and/or parental education is lacking. These geographic areas have few parents who can help in the classroom and give educational support to their children. We recruit educated, mature volunteers to work under the direction of the teacher. The teacher designates which children need help and provides the appropriate materials for them. The child reads to the volunteer, while the volunteer assists with comprehension and pronunciation.
North Star Academy Parents ClubRedwood City, CA
The Parent Club enables the school to offer a variety of programs that would be unavailable without the generous support of the parent community. Our funding covers both staffing and program expenses. The Parent Club works closely with the principal to understand the school’s goals and financial needs and establishes an annual budget. Parent Club funds provide the school with flexibility, since our funds are free of the mandated spending restrictions that accompany many other school-funding sources.
