Mission

SCERA was founded by local leaders in 1933 during the aftermath of the Great Depression to raise the spirits of those who had lost lifetime investments in farms and homes. What started out as 5 cents movies has grown to become an arts, entertainment and educational complex with the historic SCERA Center for the Arts, the 3,500 seats SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre, the Orem Heritage Museum, SCERA Art Studios and SCERA Shop Building which houses our scenic, props and costumes departments. SCERA serves more than 250,00 people annually through year-round live theatre, concerts, movies, arts education programs and special events.

SCERA PROVIDES WHOLESOME FAMILY-ORIENTED FILMS AND LIVE STAGE PRODUCTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY. THE FACILITIES ARE FREQUENTLY USED FOR SPECIAL PROGRAMS OF A CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL NATURE BY SCHOOLS, THE COMMUNITY, CIVIL CLUBS, ETC. SCERA SHELL AMPHITHEATRE - A 5,000 SEATING CAPACITY OUTDOOR AMPHITHEATRE PROVIDES A PLACE FOR COMMUNITY THEATER AND MANY OTHER PROGRAMS TO BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE UTAH SYMPHONY, NATIONAL ENTERTAINERS, MUSICAL PRODUCTIONS, COMMUNITY CELEBRATIONS, AND MUCH MORE. SCERA'S HERITAGE MUSEUM CONTAINS ARTWORK AND ITEMS OF HISTORICAL VALUE FROM THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY. CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS - SCERA PROVIDES SEVERAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE COMMUNITY TO LEARN DANCE, ART, PHOTOGRAPHY, VOICE, AND DRAMA. COSTUME RENTAL - SCERA RENTS ITS COSTUMES TO THE COMMUNITY FOR USE IN OTHER DRAMATIC PRODUCTIONS AS A PUBLIC SERVICE.
