UWNNS engages partners in our work through the Northern Nevada Reading Coalition with over 40 partners collaborating to improve early literacy. Successes include an attendance awareness campaign that aired over 400 times, partners promoted a shared summer reading log, and a summer reading program was piloted at summer meal sites. We leveraged 407 volunteers with 1800 hours. Also, UWNNS strengthens families by supporting programs that help with basic needs. Highlights include: Nevada 2-1-1 that connected 7,614 callers from Northern Nevada to basic needs services; saved Northern Nevadans $443,997 on prescriptions through FamilyWize; and managed the Emergency Food and Shelter Program that distributed $242,597 to area agencies to support individuals and families with shelter, food, rental, and utilities assistance.
