HICDC has been developing self help housing since 1992. Through 2018 HICDC has worked with low income self help builders to complete 330 homes almost all of which are on the island of Hawaii. In 2018 HICDC and 11 self help families completed the HPP6 project in Keaau and was in the process of constructing a 31 lot self help housing subdivision in Pepeekeo. This later project is being financed by the Hauoli Mau Loa Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization
